About the Placement Cell

The Placement Cell at Oriental College of Education and Research, Andheri West, mentors students to acquire employability skills, helping them plan and manage their careers for personal growth. It is an integral part of the college’s organizational structure, with the primary responsibility of placing the right candidates in suitable organizations. The cell identifies the qualities, preferences, talents, and traits of student teachers to facilitate effective placements.
The Placement Cell enhances students’ soft skills and prepares them for interviews and demonstration lessons. It identifies potential employers and helps them achieve their hiring goals. The cell organizes activities related to career planning and acts as a bridge between students, alumni, and employers

Objectives:

1. Career Trends: Orient students about trends in the teaching career.
2. School Board Requirements: Inform students about the requirements of various school boards.
3. Career Opportunities: Disseminate information on career opportunities in different school boards.
4. School Liaison: Maintain close liaison with schools for student placement.
5. Information Gathering: Gather information about schools requiring skilled teachers.
6. Recruiter Database: Create a database of potential recruiters.
7. Campus Interviews: Arrange for campus interviews.
8. Feedback Collection: Collect feedback from schools participating in placements.
9. Recruitment Documentation: Document details of the recruitment process.
10. Alumni Tracking: Track the current status of ex-students and maintain their feedback and comments.
11. Alumni Liaison: Maintain a close liaison with ex-students for the placement of current students.
12. Unemployment Reduction: Act as a catalyst for reducing unemployment.
13. Interview Training: Train and prepare students for interviews.

Activities
The Placement Cell arranges the following training programs for students using both institutional and external expertise:

1. CV and Cover Letter Preparation: Orientation sessions on preparing CVs and cover letters.
2. Interview Skills Workshops: Workshops on interview-facing skills.
3. Soft Skills Workshops: Workshops to enhance soft skills.
4. Demo Lesson Guidance: Guiding sessions for delivering demonstration lessons.
5. Vacancy Updates: A forum to update students on upcoming vacancies.
